When setting up you destination, you can pick from the shortest distance in miles or time. Garmin Nuvi 255w will then give you step by step voice direction. For some people this voice direction can get a little annoying, so if you don’t like it then you can turn it off. It does help though when driving so you don’t ever have to take your eyes off the road. It also tells you what time you will get to your destination, while adjusting the more you drive. When driving, you can create different Poi’s. Perhaps you need to go somewhere and on the way you need to find an ATM. This GPS navigation system can tell you where ATM’s, hotels, restaurants and many more items like this are. There are over 6 million different Poi’s preloaded in this unit.

Garmin Nuvi 255w has a lot of internal memory and as an added bonus offers you an SD card slot so you can add more memory if needed. You need memory for when you hook it up to your computer so you can update your system with different maps, and you can add different accessories to it, such as different driving icons.

If you like to go hiking or anything of that nature then you will still love this GPS system. It’s completely portable so you can carry it right along with you. With its lithium ion battery, it will last 4 hours without being recharged. That’s very good for a GPS unit, because most of them do not last that long.
