5 out of 5 stars I never got lost!   September 10, 2010
hammer (Spring City, TN)
I ordered the Garmin 265WT because I was planning a trip through some pretty remote country and had never been in this region before. I traveled from Seattle to Mt. Rainier, through the Yakima Valley to Walla Walla wine country, to Grand Coulee Damn, to Glacier National Park, to Calgary, to Banff, to Jasper, to Canadian wine country, wineries, to Vancouver, to Victoria, to Olympic National Park and in 2 weeks never got lost!!! The GPS located hotels, gas stations, points of interest, restaurants, cities, towns, traffic problems, detours, etc. Just an incredible piece of technology. Also the bluetooth worked better than any I have ever seen, just wonderful.

3 out of 5 stars It was ok, but I returned it   September 9, 2010

Let me just start by saying I really wanted to like this product and was disappointed I had to return it. It's a good deal for the price, but just didn't work when I actually needed it.

I used this GPS the first few days on my every day routes such as my friend's house and work. It was great and took me the direction I usually go anyway. The traffic updates were alright, but only work on major roads, so it's not really useful for everyday commutes if you are driving locally. Anyways, it was easy to use and accurate thus far. Also the Bluetooth was awesome, it found my phone right away and I was up and running in 20 seconds.

The real test came when my family and I took this to go to Atlantic City. It took us there alright, but was a nightmare on the way back. We came out of a parking garage in one of the casinos, so we gave it a while to see if it would be able to determine where we were, but it would just keep saying "Drive to highlighted route", the when we did, it would recalculate and say we were actually somewhere else now and say to drive to highlighted route again.

I was a bit annoyed that for half an hour as we drove around the same area, it could not figure out where we were where there were dozens of landmarks all around us. I returned it because I got the GPS so it would tell me where to go when I was in a place I wasn't familiar with. The fact that it did well on roads I already knew was of no use.

4 out of 5 stars I Like It--but....   September 8, 2010

This my first GPS so I little to compare it to, but while the voice is clear, the volume could definitely be louder.
Appears easy to use.

5 out of 5 stars Factory Refurbished   September 8, 2010

So for anyone wondering about buying a Factory Refurbished Nuvi 265wt Let me just say there is no need to worry here was what you do 1st keep your e-mail reciept from amazon then call Garmin at 1-800-800-1200 select product support let them know you you like to register your product and they will walk you through the rest no problem. enough said.
One other thing I should mention is that if you have a newer vechicle that has bluethooth them save yourself a couple of bucks and get the Nuvi255 instead.

3 out of 5 stars Not for the uninitiated   September 7, 2010

This is my first GPS as recommended by a friend, though I have used others in rentals and borrowed. I took it on a long trip where I was driving alone and I found it to be very frustrating at times. While in Durango Colorado it wouldn't find a road that was clearly there. I had to go on Google maps and get there that way. Some of it is not as intuitive as others. It takes me a few different tries to remember how to change states so I can put in a new location in a new state. And I haven't had any trouble with others I have used. And it didn't tell me to make a turn until it was about .3 miles from the turn and I could use a little more of a heads up when I am somewhere unfamiliar. But perhaps I need to use it more and read the manual - which is does not come with and I have yet to find the one for this specific model on their web site. I would have bought a simpler, cheaper one.
